DOUBLES KNOCKOUT COMPETITION RULES
The information below precedes any information and any competitions held in previous seasons.
 
Registration is £10 per team. Payment to be made via the payment page
 
FORMAT
The format is "Normal Doubles" (not Scotch Doubles).
Matches will be played to the best of 7 games (except the final which will be 9 games)
 
WORLD RULES ONLY Talking is allowed after the BALLS STOP MOVING at the end of a partner’s turn, throughout the opponent’s turn, and up until the CUE BALL IS STRUCK at the beginning of the other partners turn. (paraphrase from http://www.epa.org.uk/wrulguid.php - 10.1 Coaching - Rule K12)
 
SDPL RULES ONLY Talking is allowed after the BALLS STOP MOVING at the end of a partner’s turn, throughout the opponent’s turn (assuming they do not ask their opponents to play again), and up until the TABLE IS TOUCHED at the beginning of the other partners turn.
In consideration to rule 7f, if a ball drops into a pocket after the balls have come to rest, and this re-ignites their turn at the table, that team should immediately refrain from talking to each other.
 
Teams should Toss/Lag to decide the first break, then alternate to the end.
 
KNOCKOUT GENERAL RULES
First team to contact should provide as many dates as possible.
Teams should respond by either accepting a proposed date, or providing an alternative list of possible dates.
Both teams should explicitly confirm an agreed date.
Home team should state their designated venue (World rules can use any venue in Prem 1 or Prem 2, and Stockport rules may use any venue used in Superleague, Division A or Division B)
A date should be agreed during the first quarter of the time frame allowed for that round.
Matches that have not been arranged within the first quarter should be reported to the committee.
Matches can be rescheduled if both teams agree to an alternative date within the timeframe allocated for that round.
All requests for extensions will be rejected.
Teams should keep a record of communications between themselves.
Matches that haven't been played by the end of the deadline will be written off and the committee will decide whether to eliminate one or both teams.
The Committee reserve the right to eliminate any team at any time.
